Back to School Safety

  • All staff will complete a daily at home screening before going to the campus.
  • All parents should be conducting a daily at home screening for their student before transporting them to the campus. A checklist of symptoms will be sent home before the first day of school. Once at school all students will have their temperature taken, if a student is found to have a fever 100.0 or higher, they will not be allowed into the classroom or early morning care. A parent will be called for the student to be picked up. The student may not return to school until they have gone 24 hours without a fever (without the use of medications).
  • If a student is diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus the individual may return to school when all three of the following criteria are met: At least 3 days have passed since recovery – resolution of fever without the use of medications; the individual has improvement in symptoms; and at least 14 days have passed since symptoms first appeared. At this time the symptoms begin the student will begin a virtual learning platform.
  • Staff and students – if it is determined that you have been in contact with someone that has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, the school should be notified and you must self-quarantine for 14 days and begin a virtual learning platform.
  • In the case that there is a positive case among one of our staff or students, the entire class will be sent home and quarantined for 14 days. At that time the class will turn to a virtual learning platform.
  • Signs will be posted through out the campus reminding students and staff about social distancing, hand washing and use of mask.
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be at the entrance of all buildings.
  • All visitors will be required to wear a mask and their temperature will be taken before they will be allowed to enter the building.
  • All rooms on the campus will be sanitized twice a day
  • Teachers will be encouraged to open their doors and or windows when possible to allow for circulation of outside air into their room for proper ventilation throughout the day.
  • “Sneeze guards” have been purchased and will be used as a barrier between all students in the classroom.
  • When social distancing is not possible all students will be required to wear a mask/face covering
  • All lunches will be eaten in the classrooms. Teachers will ensure that all students properly wash hands before lunch time. When the weather permits, if the teacher wishes, classes may be taken outside to eat. However, multiple classes can not be in the same area to eat. Parents will not be allowed on campus to eat with students.
  • All lunches will be served on disposal trays, utensils will be disposable, and condiments will be single use and non-reusable.
  • Arrangements will be made for the students to attend Mass virtually until further notice.
  • Water fountains will be covered to prevent being used by students.
  • Athletics and PE – all students will practice social distancing and the coach will limit the use of shared objects. Sporting events will be postponed until further notice.
  • After school care will be limited in the number of students that are accepted into the program to ensure social distancing procedures are followed. Please return the After School Care registration form to reserve a spot for your child.
  • During dismissal parents must remain in their vehicles at all times, elementary students will be walked out to the parents, while middle school students will be allowed to walk to their parents while being supervised.
  • The front office door will remain locked. If you need to pick up your child early please call the office so we can have your student waiting for you.
The following Addendum was made on 8/12/2020 by the Diocese of San Angelo
  1. Once temperatures are taken, students must proceed directly to the classrooms, not congregating in the halls or other common areas.
    - To enforce this, early morning care will not be available until further notice. Students should not arrive on campus before 7:35. Drop off should be conducted in a “pull through” fashion in one of two parking lots. The parking lot in front of the 1st- 4th grade building or the parking lot in front of the parish hall. There will be one person in each of those parking lots taking temperatures as soon as the students exit their vehicle. PLEASE DO NOT leave until the student’s temperature has been taken and they are cleared to enter the building. If they have a fever they will be sent back home with their parents. If they are cleared they will go straight to the classroom.
  2. After school care will be limited in the number of students accepted into the program. Once we have met capacity students will not be allowed to sign up. It is imperative that if your child is not registered for ASC, that they be picked up on time every day due to social distancing procedures that must be followed.
  3. Any person (student or staff) with a temperature greater than 100 degrees with be sent home.
  4. Reusable face coverings should be washed each day after use.
  5. Parents must have a back-up contact information on their emergency cards (in school speak).
  6. Parents are not to congregate outside of school exits. Please remain in your vehicle.
  7. All field trips, assemblies and other large group activities are canceled for the entire first semester to avoid mixing students in large common areas. Further date TBD.
  8. Parent and teacher meetings are to be conducted virtually.
  9. According to the CDC, travel increases your chances of getting and spreading COVID-19. Families are discouraged from traveling to another country or state for family trips. Families must notify the school of trips that may increase student exposure to COVID-19. As a result of traveling, students may be subject to a 14-day quarantine.
  10.  If a student has had COVID-19 like symptoms but not COVID-19 (they had another illness), parents/guardians must keep the child home until he/she is fever and symptom free for 72 hours without fever-reducing medication.
