FAQs

Will my child wear a uniform?
Yes, starting in 3K, Angelo Catholic students wear uniforms. Uniforms help set the tone for a serious day of school and are part of a long school tradition. Boys wear pants or shorts and shirts in school colors. Girls wear pants, skorts or skirts in school colors. The pants, shorts and skirts are a navy blue and the shirts are red.  Shorts are not allowed on the days the students attend Mass. Uniforms must be purchased from French Toast.

Are all the students on one campus?
YES! For the first time, all students are at 2315 A&M.

How much homework should my child expect?
Homework is intended for drilling, reading comprehension, writing papers or studying for tests. But it also instills the importance of responsibility, preparation and setting high standards. Expect about 15 minutes of nightly homework in first grade. That will increase by another 15 minutes or so with each grade level.

Is Angelo Catholic a parochial school?
Yes.  ACS was founded on Catholic principles and the Christian faith.  ACS is supported by two parishes (Holy Angels and Sacred Heart Cathedral).

What is the Mass service like?
The weekly, 45-minute Mass, held in the adjacent Holy Angels Church, is a cherished school tradition. With Mass, a talk from the Priest, and a celebration of the many ways that the students demonstrate the school’s core values, it is a warm and meaningful gathering of the school community. Parents and friends of all faiths are welcome.

How is lunch handled?
Students eat lunch in the cafeteria with their teacher. They may pack a lunch at home or buy lunch from the school.  The cost of the lunch is $4.00 per lunch, per day, per student.  Lunch tickets are available in either office. Milk is also available for purchase for $.50/carton.

An Angelo Catholic education ends at sixth grade. Why?
Angelo Catholic  focuses on the critical early years of its students. Elementary school can be particularly challenging. At ACS, our students are expected to be leaders, and our older students assume leadership (both in the school setting and the church setting). The school is not distracted by the particular demands of middle and high school, such as college choice, social pressures and other important issues. Angelo Catholic provides information and placement services for local middle and high schools.

After School Care workers oversee homework, and provide snacks and juice for the students. After homework, students may play outside.

What transportation is provided to and from both Angelo Catholic Campuses?

All transportation to and from the Angelo Catholic campuses is the sole responsibility of the parents.  We can afford to keep our tuition rates lower by not incurring the costs of buses, drivers and the additional insurance required for transporting students in buses.

The first bell rings at 7:45 am.  The tardy bell rings at 8:00 am.  Students are expected to be in their classrooms at that time.
